OPTIONAL TOURS

 

NORMAL – 60-minute-long guided tours: You can have a new insight into Hungary’s history with the help of our professional tour guides who tell the story and memories of both the hospital and the bunker highlighting the fragility of the most important human value in the world: peace. Group size: min. 15 – max. 25 pax/group. Due to safety regulations groups of 26 or more will be divided into 2 smaller groups on the spot. Optional under the SIMPLE MUSEUM VISIT or DONATION program.

INTERACTIVE –  90-minute-long guided tours with playful tasks: Extended guided program with our professional guides. It includes playful tasks, such as applying bandages, masking people as patients, carrying people on stretchers, putting on gas masks, and solving memory tasks. Each team receives presents based on their performance. Suitable, from age 6 to 99. Good choice for families, school groups and even for company events. Groupsize: Min. 7 – max. 20 people/group. (Groups of 21 or more will be divided into smaller groups!) Extra fee of interactive program (above the general program fee):  Optional under the SIMPLE MUSEUM VISIT or DONATION program +100 EUR / group.

Please note that interactive guided tours are only available on weekdays.

HISTORY LESSON –  45-minute-long lesson + 60-minute-long guided tour: Only for schools and student groups! Have a special history lesson about Hungary’s past events in a unique place under the ground! History lesson fee: +5 000 Ft / group (min. 15 – max. 35 pax). History lessons are available for groups only in case they visit the museum as well! Thank you for your understanding!

OPTIONAL TOPICS OF OUR HISTORY LESSONS

1. Hungary during World War II

 

The lecture presents Hungary’s role in WWII. The presentation is enlivened with maps and photos about true, undistorted events, human fates and decisions, which led to the devastation of Budapest. During the program the history of the Hospital in the Rock is given special attention, enriched with eye witnesses’ reminiscences.

2. Rescuers – Forgotten heroes

 

Learn about the horrific events of the Holocaust in Hungary and some of the lesser-known individuals who often risked their own lives to help their fellow human beings. Who were they? What did they do and why? How did their fate turn out? Discover the extraordinary stories of Gábor Sztehlo, Friedrich Born, Giorgio Perlasca and other unfairly forgotten heroes!

3. The 1956 Revolution

 

The lecture provides an overview of the 1956 revolution, its meaning and impact. During the lesson we examine how the peaceful student demonstration evolved into a fight for freedom, what was Imre Nagy’s role as the prime minister at that time, and how these events influenced Hungary’s history.

4. The A-Bomb – the past and present of nuclear threat

 

The aim of this lecture is to discuss the past and present of nuclear weapons in the world. Students get acquainted with the details of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as the possible effects of the currently available nuclear weapons in order to draw attention to the untold nuclear threat existing today.

5. The Cold War

A lecture befitting the spirit of a former nuclear bunker. In this lesson we cover the history of proxy wars and the nuclear arms race between the USA and the Soviet Union from 1945 till 1991.

Registration

When registering your group, please choose the most appropriate time of your arrival. Our colleagues take into consideration your chosen time, as well as our capacity.
Please provide the name of the group or institution you arrive from.
Min. 15 - max. 25 persons / group. We can accommodate a maximum of 50 people per appointment (with group splitting), for more than 50 people 2 separate appointments are required.
Tours in other languages (German, French, Italian, etc.) may be organized upon advanced request. The extra charge is 5500 HUF/group. If you would like to book a guided tour in German, French, Italian or Spanish, please notify us in the SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS section.
Disabled and less mobile group
The hospital part can be visited in wheelchairs or other mobility aid equipment. Therefore, disabled people cannot take part on the last 15 minutes of the tour. Please, tell us if you arrive with disabled people, so that our colleagues can help them during your visit.

Our history lessons can be booked only alongside with a normal guided tour. Please note that the lessons are only available in Hungarian and English for an extra fee.
